Colts Continue Bloodletting Among Coaches

Jim Irsay and new general manager Ryan Grigson have apparently found their teeth a week after teaming up.  After apparently doing an about-face on head coach Jim Caldwell over the weekend, the Indianapolis Colts brain trust has sharpened up their knives and sliced staff to the bone.   Now gone are Caldwell, offensive line coach Pete Metzelaars, receivers coach Frank Reich, and strength and conditioning coach Jon Torine.  The Colts also continued the family axing tradition established earlier this off-season when they jettisoned Chris and Bill Polian by firing defensive line coach John Teerlink and his son/assistant Bill Teerlink.    The Colts were expected to make a push to hire life coach Anthony Robbins shortly so that they would have another coach in line to be fired.

Interestingly, it looks like the Colts’ secondary coach, Alan Williams, is in line to become the Vikings’ new defensive coordinator.   That’s akin to hiring Dan Quayle as a spelling teacher, dontcha think?
