Why NOT Jeff Fisher to the Colts?

In this age of instant information and data laid bare before our eyes at the click of a key, we sometimes have to find ways to mystify ourselves.   In that vein, who doesn’t like a good conspiracy, especially when something near and dear to your heart is involved?    That said, I’m ready to jump into the Jeff Fisher fray with both feet and say that I think there is at least a decent chance that he’s angling for the head coaching job with the Indianapolis Colts.

Fisher, you might have heard, is nursing offers from both the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams and was to have made his decision today.   The problem is, he apparently hasn’t pulled the trigger.   Seems he is trying to figure out his best fit and best opportunity.   It’s not about negotiating.  It’s about “winning.”    Of course, it might just be about waiting out the Colts and new general manager Ryan Grigson while they settle into their own new relationship.

Fisher has long expressed an admiration for injured quarterback Peyton Manning, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see the two join powers somewhere along the line.   Will it be in Indianapolis in 2012?     Until I hear otherwise, I’ll be standing in the Fisher-to-Indy corner with my copy of “Angels and Demons,” listening to Alex Jones.

Can someone please call Brad Meltzer?
