Colts Lose to Jaguars,

The Colts entered Sunday with perhaps their best chance of getting a win so far, or at all, in 2011, but they just couldn’t get the job done.  The story was pretty much the same against the Jacksonville Jaguars as it has been all season:  the Colts’ defense was on the field way too long and couldn’t stop the run, quarterback Curtis Painter was ineffective and relieved by Dan Orlovsky, and the return game was anemic.

Even with all the doom and gloom, though, the Colts were actually competitive for most of the  game and trailed by just seven points when they got the ball on their own 13 with under six minutes to play.  Seven yards in two plays left them in line for a first down, but a Dan Orlovsky sack and fumble eventually resulted in another Jags touchdown.

In the end, the score was not close, with Jacksonville walking 17-3.   Next week’s bye comes at a good time for the Colts, but then, the only way to make this season better would be to have byes from here on out.
