Colts Notes for October 6

Colts fans learned on Thursday that Peyton Manning will be back Sunday against the Chiefs … on the sidelines, at least.   Hey, he’s getting closer to the field at least!   In other Colts news:

• The Colts signed TE Dedrick Epps and DT Kade Western to the practice squad.
• OT Ben Ijalana (knee) was placed on the IR.
• LB Ernie Sims might have recovered enough from his knee injury to play against Kansas City.
• Not practicing Thursday were RB Joseph Addai, OT Anthony Castonzo, DT Drake Nevis, OG Ryan Diem, DE Robert Mathis, and TE Brody Eldridge
• QB Kerry Collins, Sims, and DT Fili Moala were limited in practice.
• G Joe Reitz (ankle), Dwight Freeney (abs), and OG Mike Pollak (arm) practiced despite their injuries.
