Seriously?

Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell announced today that the team has hired former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel to run Indy’s audio-visual equipment. Caldwell said that the move will allow other Colts coaches to focus on their own duties and will give Colts players a leg up on receiving free tattoos. Financial terms weren’t disclosed, but the deal is believed to include training in e-mail etiquette and risk management for Tresssel. It is an area that has apparently long interested the former coach, but which his college duties left him unable to pursue.
Tressel said that the new gig will require a lengthy adjustment period.
“I was really hoping to land with the Falcons or, ideally, the Cardinals, but I’m prepared to move forward with the Colts,” Tressel said from the steps of his new Carmel estate on Friday afternoon. “It’s obviously not going to be easy. I mean, ALL of my vests are red. What am I supposed to do? Dye them blue? Throw them out and buy new ones? It’s a difficult situation, and there are no easy answers.”
Some see this move as a stepping stone to an NBA head coaching job for Tressel, as the preferred route to that position now involves a stop in the video room (see Frank Vogel and Erik Spoelstra). One thing is for certain, though: the Colts power structure has been altered in a major way. I just hope that Tressel doesn’t fire Bill Polian.
