More Colts Comings and Goings

As reported by Mike Chappell, the Colts continue to shape their roster as they prepare for the first day of practice today.   Among recent moves was claiming TE Tyson DeVree off waivers from Cleveland, signing DL Eric Foster to his restricted tender offer and signing this year’s third-round draft pick, LSU DT Drake Nevis to a four-year deal.   Nevis’s contract leaves first-rounder Anthony Castonzo as the only draftee holdout for the Colts.

Chappell also relates that none of the Colts’ re-signed or  new free agents are eligible to practice until Thursday, under the NFL’s new CBA.    That leaves Joseph Addai, Melvin Bullitt, Dan Orlovsky and Nate Davis on the sidelines and unable to work with teammates.    If you want a glimpse of Indy’s nightmare scenario, make the trip to Anderson before August 4 and take a look at a Colts offense led by Curtis Painter or Mike Hartline, with Donald Brown in the backfield, and Jeff Linkenbach at left tackle.    After you try to rub that vision from your eyes, remember the NFL rhetoric about how the lockout has cost fans essentially nothing in the long run.
