Colts Sign Former Texans Quarterback Dan Orlovsky
By Editorial Staff
The Colts continued to stockpile backup arms even as injured quarterback Peyton Manning signed on the dotted line of his shiny new contract. The Indianapolis Star reported today that the Colts have signed veteran free agent QB Dan Orlovsky, formerly of the Houston Texans, as another option in case Manning’s recovery from off-season neck surgery continues to lag. Orlovsky is 27 and has appeared in 13 games for the rival Texans.
Entering this week, the Colts had only Curtis Painter to spell Manning, but have since signed Nate Davis, Mike Hartline and Orlovsky as potential backups. There seems to be no truth to rumors about Mike Pagel, Ryan Leaf, Bert Jones, Doug Williams, Brett Favre and Otto Graham being in contract negotiations with Indy.
