As a point of clarification on the list of Colts free agents that I posted earlier, the Colts actually came out of the lockout with six restricted free agents, but they only tendered an offer to one of them, DE Eric Foster. As the Indianapolis Star reported yesterday, the Colts relinquished their rights to the others, who include RB Mike Hart, S Jamie Silva, TE Tom Santi, TE Gijon Robinson and DB Mike Richardson. These players are all free to explore the open market, and the Colts could presumably resign them later if no one else picks them up. Given Indy’s flirtation with the top of the salary cap and the specter of Peyton Manning’s unresolved contract, the Colts aren’t likely to keep any marginal, but relatively expensive, players on board this season. As evidenced by their activity in undrafted free agent market, the team obviously feels that it has other options.
