Safety Net Gone, Super Bowl On!

There has been an unspoken dread regarding the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis ever since it became clear that NFL owners would lockout players and introduce at least the possibility that we’d miss our shot at the big time. Mark Miles, the chairman of the host committee for Superbowl XLI, appears to no longer be worried, if he ever was. The Indianapolis Star reported last night that Miles is ready to cancel the February 12 backup date for the Big Game and tell local retailers that they can book their facilities for other events that weekend. Previously, hotels and restaurants were holding the weeks of both February 5 and 12 for Super Bowl activities, but the city now appears to banking on the earlier date, as originally planned. If the players and owners will just quit teasing, Indy can wave goodbye to the pavement below once and for all.

The Colts also need to find someone to wear uniform #46 this season. Maybe Peyton Manning can apply for a one-year, or one-game, rules exemption.
