The Indianapolis Colts have let go of two players on Wednesday, including place kicker Shane Andrus and linebacker Cody Glenn. The news was posted on Colts.com, which is a bit surprising considering player moves are rarely posted on the website in any sort of timely fashion.
The move must signal that Adam Vinatieri is fully healthy and the team feels confident in him handling all the kicking responsibilities. Andrus did the kicking off in week one for the Colts and performed admirably in the preseason, connecting on all of his field goal attempts. Best of luck to Shane. He played well for the Colts and it is a bit sad to see him go. Hopefully he is able to land a starting gig somewhere in the NFL, he definitely has the goods to do so.
I did not know much about the rookie linebacker Glenn. He was claimed from Washington in early September and did not play in the season opener against Jacksonville. Best of luck to Cody as well on his future in the NFL.
Unsure what these moves hold for the Colts, but perhaps one roster spot will go to safety Matt Giordano. Especially with Bob Sanders still hurt, I personally hope the Colts bring back Giordano to the team, whom they waived before week one. The rumor mill is also buzzing that Indy might try to acquire a wide receiver now that Anthony Gonzalez is hurt. Depending on the player and the contract, this might not be a bad move.
I suppsose only time will tell, but until then In Polian We Trust!
