So Much For A Healthy Season

The Colts never catch any breaks.  Bob Sanders and Tony Ugoh are going to miss the Jacksonville game.  Sanders has a high ankle sprain and will miss 4 to 6 weeks.  Tony Ugoh has hurt his groin but Dungy didn’t give a timetable for his return.

On the bright side, Jeff Saturday and Dallas Clark might play this Sunday.  Of course, we will be without Mike Pollak and Jacob Tamme, and Daniel Muir, Keyunta Dawson, and Roy Hall missed practice today as well.  The Colts always seem to have major injury problems.  I know other teams have injuries, but no other team has the amount of injuries to contributors as this team.  Why?  Is it the way the Colts are built with small, speedy players?  We know that is why Bob Sanders is so injury prone, but that doesn’t explain Pollak, Saturday, or Ugoh.  Our offensive line is constantly hurt.  Personally, I think we need to fire Jon Torine and Richard Howell, our strength and conditioning coaches.  Offensive linemen should not consistently have injuries to their lower body.  It’s ridiculous.

This team has to stay healthy.  I still believe we will win this Sunday, but the Jaguars are also pretty banged up.  When we face some of our tougher opponents down the road, we will need to be healthy.  Luckily for us, the bye week coming up next week, so Ugoh, Clark, Saturday, Tamme, and Pollak will most likely be back for the fourth game of the season against the Texans.

The good news about the injuries is that we are playing the weakest part of our schedule right now.  Our next three opponents are 1- 4.  The Ravens, our Week 6 opponent, have problems at nearly every position.  The Texans are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ike.  The Jaguars have looked terrible in their first 2 games.  It would still be nice if everyone was healthy, but if there is ever a time to be hurt, it is right now.
