Former Colt Avoids Jail Time

Former Colts safety Dexter (not Darrell) Reid avoided jail time today in a drug and guns charges case, according to Pro Football Talk.

Reid had a .45 caliber magazine, ammunition, a digital scale, and 3.2 grams of mary jane in his car when he was pulled over 15 months ago.  His charges were reduced to a misdemeanor because he had no intent to distribute, his lawyer said.  The digital scale makes me think otherwise.

Reid played 26 games for the Colts in 2005 and 2006, starting one of them.  He had 20 tackles in those two seasons.

Reid has had a disasterous fall from glory.  Just a little more than a year ago, he won his second Super Bowl ring with the Indianapolis Colts.  Now, he just narrowly avoided up to 10 years in prison.  It’s sad to see former players fall this far.  I hope he can bounce back from that and find a team to play with in the Arena League or CFL.
