To Rest or Not to Rest?

Everyone remembers the ’05 season when the Colts were flirting with the dolphins record and ended up locking up homefield advantage early, and decided to rest Peyton Manning and the rest of the starters for the final 2 and a half games.  We also know all to well what happened that year in the playoffs to.  The Steelers came into our house and put it to us and it looked as though our team was a little rusty, and then of course the missed kick by Ray Finkle (Vanderjagt) at the end of the game that hurt our chances of sending it into overtime didn’t exactly help, and the Steelers went on to win the Super Bowl, and Everyone questioned Tony Dungy’s desicion on not playing his starters those last 2 games.

Well the Colts are here again and I am asking you to put yourself in his shoes.  What would you do if you have a first round bye?  Do you decide to play your starters and risk injury to players like Manning, and then you have to rely on Jim Sorgi (who is not excactly Frank Reich) to get the job done, or would you rest your starters without risking any further injury?  My opinion is that you starters should only sit if you have a good lead going into the 4th quarter.  The most important thing is to keep the momentum going into the playoffs, and you already worked hard enough to get a bye in the first round, so you use that week to rest your players.  It’s not like you can do any game planning during your bye week anyway, because it hasn’t been determined who you will be playing yet. This is all just my opinion.  What would you do?
