NASCAR’s Booming!

facebooktwitterreddit

In the latest mass exodus across racing league lines comes Sam Hornish, Jr. This IndyCar veteran and Indy 500 champ is going to join PENSKE and their superstars, Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch in NASCAR.

Could Indy Racing League succumb to a rash of drivers seeking fame and fortune in the backwoods of America’s hickland? NASCAR is a juggernaut in American sports, and it’s not just in the fields of Talladega, Alabama, do you find these diehard fans either (I was only kidding about the “hickland” comment…I’m a fan myself).

Others having made the trek across enemy lines from open-wheeled to stock car are:

Juan Pablo Montoya
Dario Franchitti
Jacques Villaneuve

…all former Indy 500 winners and IRL leaders…not to mention the long-time IRL veteran, Patrick Carpentier. AJ Allmendinger also left Champ Cars to hit the NASCAR scene. Let’s not forget Scott Speed of Formula One fame who is practicing for one year on the ARCA circuit before making the big jump to the Daytona 500.

Could this hottie be next?
