ESPN’s Take on the Colts-Broncos

As ESPN’s John Clayton said, NFL schedule-makers really “outdid themselves this week.

“Rivalries and grudge matches abound. Jamal Lewis and the Browns play host to the Baltimore team that let him go. Daunte Culpepper goes back to Miami. Matt Schaub gets to rub it in against Atlanta for trading him. Darrell Jackson of the 49ers can make the Seahawks pay for dealing him. Former Steelers assistants Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm can get back at the Steelers for passing each of them over for the head coaching job.”

Sure, the Bengals-Patriots game is pretty huge, bigger than the Colts-Broncos matchup, but the closest Clayton gets to previewing the Colts was his mentioning of a tough run defense we’ve developed and how Carson Palmer is becoming more Manning-like in the Bengals’ lethal no-huddle/high-scoring offense.

So, the Colts are still being overlooked. Is it because the Colts have been that good for so long everyone’s just used to it? Who knows…what we do know though is that Indy’s 3-0 after beating the Saints and collecting two tough divisional road wins. Maybe by not mentioning the Colts, it’s the best form of compliment. Hm…How’s that John Clayton?
