I’ve been meaning to bring this up for a while now, but have had just too much else to talk about here at Naptown’s Finest. The Colts have had many difference-makers in their fold since Johnny Unitas…Erik Dickerson, Jim Harbaugh, Marshall Faulk, Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James and I haven’t even dipped into the defense!
But I can’t think of any other Colt that has made more of an impact on the franchise than Peyton Manning. This 1st pick in the 1998 NFL draft out of University of Tennessee (right) is on track to break every significant QB record in both the franchise and the league. We all know Peyton is about as real a deal as other greats – Unitas, Namath, Montana, Young, Fahvrah, Elway and Marino. There’s good players, but then there are game-raisers, and Peyton is one who raises the bar for any QB coming after him.
Dare I say, “Peyton Manning is the best thing to ever happen to the Indianapolis Colts franchise.”
The Indianapolis Star has a fantastic website devoted to Indy’s Adopted Boy, Peyton Manning. Check it out and enjoy as there are a number of links to different Peyton moments, pics, stat-trackers, you name it…it’s quite a tribute. And with Peyton so young, it’s bound to be updated weekly as he surpasses the greats who went before him.
Sound off when you’ve taken a look and tell me what you think.
