88…the jersey number and the man who wears it. It pretty much doesn’t matter what Marvin Harrison does from now until the end of his career: he’s going to Canton and that’s that. But he’s about to assume the No. 2 all-time most receptions spot.
In September, he turns 35. When he takes field against the Saints he’ll begin his 12th year in the NFL. This Orangeman has come quite a ways in his career and he’s taking his seat among the best…okay, he’s not quite taking the seat (or even thinking of taking the seat, if you ask him). He’s just preparing for his place at the table of football’s greatest receivers like Lynn Swann, Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin and Terrell Owens. Ha! Sorry…just checking if you’re paying attention. It’s Marvin we’re talking about here and you know as well as I do this 8-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion deserves our undivided attention.
So, come September, let’s give it to him. (That photo is the best! That was a TD by the way…against the Pats. Sweeter even!)
