The Texans will be making history this season: they will start a QB other than David Carr. Matt Schaub, backup in Atlanta, will be taking these snaps, but instead of trying to beef up the offense, Houston’s giving the defense a little chin-up treatment in drafting their first 2007 pick in Amobi Okoye out of Louisville (pic of Okoye taking down a Cane at right).
Gary Kubiak finds himself in his second year as Texan head coach, and coming off a 6-10 record, falling one win short of tying a franchise season record of 7 wins. He’s got tough new talent to play with, so are the Texans going to be a threat in 2007? Will they make some waves in the AFC South with a dismal Titans defense (ranked 32nd last year) and a injured and aging Jacksonville squad?
Time’s going to tell, but one thing’s for sure…the Colts should feel a little safer in their division this year if the Texans have become a “threat.”
