Dwight “Franchise” Freeney?

There was a great article in the Indianapolis Star (hit the link here to read it for yourself) a few days ago about Dwight Freeney’s re-signing.
He might be a “franchise” player with Manning soon, mid-July is the deadline.
It does seem that if the Colts used the franchise tag it would have to be on Freeney. No two players in the league (on the same team) are more disruptive and game-changing than Freeney and Manning, and I think the Colts will reward Freeney for it, as they’ve already given Manning franchise player-level pay and then some.
Do you agree, or is there a better choice for the franchise tag than Freeney?
