Indianapolis Colts star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is apparently battling a knee injury, having missed Thursday’s practice. Here’s hoping “The Ghost” will be geared up and ready to play on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
The Indianapolis Colts released their Thursday injury report, and there was one surprising addition as wide receiver T.Y. Hilton sat out practice with a listed “knee” injury.
While it’s possible that Hilton’s simply dealing with a minor knee issue, it’s worth noting that he wasn’t even listed on Wednesday’s injury report–having been a full participant in practice.
Obviously, Hilton’s absence would be a major blow for the Colts receiving corps on Sunday, which is slated to play one of the league’s best defenses featuring a secondary with shutdown cornerbacks such as Chris Harris Jr., Aqib Talib, and Bradley Roby.
However, it’s too early to say one way or the other what’s truly ailing Hilton. The Colts could simply be taking a precaution, and it’s possible Hilton is back out on the field as soon as Friday.
Otherwise, the team did receive some positive news, as Joe Reitz (“foot”) was a full participant in practice and veteran pass rusher Robert Mathis (“foot”) was able to practice on a limited basis. The latter had been sporting a boot on his foot earlier this week, so this is obviously encouraging news.
Additionally, Clayton Geathers returned to practice for the first time since suffering a foot injury before training camp. With rookie safety T.J. Green looking unlikely to play because of a knee injury, Geathers could be thrust right into the starting lineup should he prove healthy enough to play.
Meanwhile, Trent Cole (“back”) still has not practiced all week–a potential setback to the Colts solving their pass rushing woes, while Jonotthan Harrison (“back”) was upgraded from a limited to full participant.
The Colts cornerbacks received some positive news again as Darius Butler was able to participate on a limited basis for a consecutive practice. Nevertheless, Antonio Cromartie remains limited by a hamstring–but looks like a go for Sunday, while Patrick Robinson was still unable to practice–presumably still in the league’s concussion protocol.
Once again, like last week, Andrew Luck was a limited participant in practice on Thursday, but it looks like the Colts are simply giving him more rest this season. The star quarterback didn’t show any signs of injury last week, as he threw for 4 passing touchdowns and 385 passing yards.
