The Indianapolis Colts announced on Wednesday that the team has signed free agent safety Alden Darby.

Originally signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2014, Darby has also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints organizations.

The former Arizona State standout finished his Sun Devils career with 217 tackles (155 solo), 8.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 10 interceptions (including a pair of touchdown returns), 26 pass deflections, and 3 forced fumbles in 50 games (28 starts).

The 5’10”, 192 pound safety was a 2x All-Pac 12 honoree including 1st-team honors during his senior season.

It comes just a day after the Colts signed free agent wide receiver Andrew Opoku and waived wide receiver Andre Debose in a corresponding move.

Regarding Opoku, the 6’4″, 225 pound wideout spent time with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2015 and participated in the team’s rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis, but was unsigned.

Having played with the University of Delaware (2012-14), Opoku played both wide receiver and linebacker with the Blue Hens–the same alma mater as Colts defensive lineman Zach Kerr. He finished his collegiate career with 4 receptions for 65 receiving yards and a touchdown, as well as 19 tackles (12 solo) and 2 fumble recoveries.

DeBose was added a week ago to replace injured wideout Brian Tyms–who was placed on injured reserve before an injury settlement was ultimately reached, but the former has now been subsequently released.
