The Indianapolis Colts announced on Wednesday that the team has waived inside linebacker Amarlo Herrera, as well as waived-injured running back Abou Toure–who will revert to their injured reserve, should he clear waivers.

Originally a 6th round pick of the Colts in last year’s NFL Draft, the former Georgia Bulldogs standout appeared in 3 regular season games for Indianapolis this past season, having spent the majority of 2015 on the team’s practice squad.

However, Herrera appeared to fall behind Nate Irving, Antonio Morrison, Edwin Jackson, Josh McNary, and Junior Sylvestre among the team’s backup inside linebacker options in training camp, and the team has ultimately elected to use the roster spot elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Toure was signed in the aftermath of Tyler Varga‘s abrupt retirement to begin training camp as additional running back depth. While he was a longshot to make the Colts 53-man active roster, the team may look to add another running back for preseason purposes.
