The Buffalo Bills announced that Indianapolis Colts free agent safety Colt Anderson visited their team along with Lorenzo Alexander on Friday:

The 30 year old safety appeared in 14 games (1 start) for the Colts this past season, recording 17 tackles. He’s spent the last two seasons with the Colts as a backup safety.

While Anderson plays safety, his biggest contribution to the Colts has been as a special teams gunner, a role he has played very well during his Indianapolis tenure.

At this juncture, it’s unclear whether the Colts have had any ongoing contract negotiations with Anderson.

There’s a chance that the team is simply looking at “bigger fish to fry” at this point in the offseason, as Anderson could be re-signed later in the offseason to fill out the roster.

On the other hand, the Colts could also be looking to get younger at safety entirely.

Either way, the Colts will need a special teams savvy backup safety to fill Anderson’s role one way or the other.
