The Indianapolis Colts announced their inactive players for Sunday’s 1 PM EST matchup against the Atlanta Falcons:

"QB Andrew Luck (abdomen/kidney)WR Phillip Dorsett (ankle)S Mike Adams (ankle)OLB Sio MooreOT Denzelle GoodOG Todd HerremansOLB Bjoern Werner"

Of course, there are no real surprises on the list as Andrew Luck will be out at least a few more few weeks recovering from a lacerated kidney, and Mike Adams hadn’t practiced all week and had been ruled out earlier this weekend with an ankle injury.

In their absence, Matt Hasselbeck will get the start at quarterback. The 17-year veteran is 2-0 as a starter for the Colts this season, having completed 48 of 76 passes (62.3%) for 495 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.

As far as backup quarterbacks go, any team would be hard-pressed to find a better option than Hasselbeck, and the Colts are lucky to have him right now as an insurance policy.

Meanwhile, Clayton Geathers will get the nod at starting safety–with Colt Anderson also getting extended playing time in nickel packages. It will be Geathers 1st career start, as the rookie safety has appeared in 8 games for the Colts this season, recording 13 tackles.

What is interesting though is that two backup outside linebackers in Sio Moore and Bjoern Werner appear to be healthy scratches, as neither player appeared on this week’s injury report for the Colts. It goes without saying that Werner as the Colts 2013 first round pick hasn’t met expectations, but that was obvious a long time ago–way before this healthy scratch.

The Colts did get some other positive news; however, as backup inside linebacker Josh McNary hadn’t practiced this week and was officially “questionable” with a groin injury, but it looks as though he’ll play Sunday.
