Report: Andrew Luck OUT vs Jaguars

According to media reports, Andrew Luck won’t take the field today for the Indianapolis Colts. Luck hasn’t thrown this week with a shoulder injury and the team is going on the side of caution. That means Matt Hasselbeck will be under center against the Jacksonville Jaguars today.

While the Colts haven’t made an official decision, and won’t until warm ups, it doesn’t sound like Luck will play. Having not fully practiced all week long was certainly an indicator that this was a serious enough injury for him to miss a game.

Coach Chuck Pagano was confident that Luck would take the field, but that easily could have been gamesmanship. Luck had started every single game since being drafted in 2012 and had never appeared on the injury report until this week.

Hasselbeck hasn’t started since 2012, when he played for the Tennessee Titans. I’d expect the Colts to get heavy usage out of Frank Gore today as the team leans on the run game against the Jaguars.

The plan might be to sit Luck for a certainly winnable game against the Jags with a short week before Thursday night’s game against the Houston Texans.
