Indianapolis Colts’ head coach Chuck Pagano announced today that several key Indianapolis Colts are “day-to-day” heading into Sunday night’s match-up against the New England Patriots. Among those players listed are starting right tackle Gosder Cherilus (groin), DE/DT Arthur Jones (ankle), and starting OLB Erik Walden (quad).

While Jones and Walden have been previously limited because of their ailments, Cherilus’s name comes as a bit of a surprise. He suffered no noticeable injury during Week 9’s game against the New York Giants, nor did he miss any playing time because of it. It’s presumably nothing serious, but the Colts do not have much offensive tackle depth behind him with only veteran Joe Reitz, who is more of a natural guard, and 2nd-year tackle Xavier Nixon. It’s definitely a situation worth monitoring, as Sunday approaches.

The Colts are used to be being without Arthur Jones, who severely sprained his ankle in Week 2, but he’d still be a welcome addition to the defensive line rotation if healthy. It would allow both Cory Redding and Ricky Jean-Francois to stay fresher throughout the course of the game.

Erik Walden missed the team’s Week 9 game against the Giants because of a groin injury he suffered in Week 8 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. If he’s unable to give it a go, it will be a situational platoon of Andy Studebaker (run) and Jonathan Newsome (pass) at his vacant OLB spot. Newsome played well against the Giants as a pass rusher in Walden’s place, recording 7 tackles and 2 sacks.
