1.       The QB position will be fixed for the start of next season

It’s not a secret that this position was the main cause for concern last season; the front office team has wasted no time in the beginning to fix this. Ballard stated in his season-ending press conference that Jacoby Brissett is the quarterback “right now”.

The team knows that the future of the position is still up for grabs and will go day and night to find their next franchise quarterback. As a result, head coach Frank Reich has been scouting some of the top signal-callers at the 2020 Senior Bowl as preparation for the upcoming draft. Through the three days that Reich was scouting the six Senior Bowl QB’s, he has kept an open mind throughout the process, giving everyone a fair chance.

“I kind of like to come in here with a clean slate,” Reich said during an interview with Colts.com, “Don’t anybody tell me anything about anybody, let me just see what I see, and then start working from (there).”

With this open mind, Reich and the front office are confident that the team will have their guy at the position through the digging that the staff does in the coming months. Still, it is hard to speculate which direction the team might go following the Senior Bowl.

With impressive performances by both Jordan Love and Justin Herbert, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see the Colts select one of them with their 13th overall pick. 2nd round talents, such as Jacob Eason, may be the direction that may be decided on if the front office feels it is best.

“I think one of the biggest mistakes teams make is they force the evaluation of a quarterback. You can’t do it..” Ballard stated.

With that said, the team also knows the importance of maturing a quarterback to be 100% ready to start, regardless of how much they want him to play.

One detail that needs not to be overlooked is the plethora of free agents at the quarterback position that cannot be overlooked. Veterans like Phillip Rivers have steadily become a viable option for Brissett or a draft pick to learn under. Young quarterbacks have flooded the market, as well, with talents like Teddy Bridgewater and Marcus Mariota. The Colts have a large number of options to choose from and will make the best choice heading into next season.
