Jake Fisher, Offensive Tackle: Cincinnati Bengals

Pick: Round 2, Pick #53

Height/Weight: 6’6″, 306 pounds

College: Oregon

Summary:

Playing behind veteran tackles Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith, Jake Fisher has had a tough time seeing extended playing time for the Bengals this season. He’s appeared in 12 games, but has only made 1 start.

In limited playing time, ProFootballFocus has given Fisher a +1.3 overall grade.

When Anthony Castonzo went out for 3 games, Fisher likely would’ve been an upgrade to late round rookie right tackle fill-in Denzelle Good–who has raw potential, but made mistakes. However, one would be hard-pressed to say he’d be better in his rookie season than current starting right tackle Joe Reitz, who’s received a +6.1 grade overall from ProFootballFocus.

Still, Fisher’s presence may have been able to kick either him or Reitz to starting right guard, which would’ve upgraded the offensive line overall by therefore relegating either Hugh Thornton (-12.5) or Lance Louis (-6.1) to the bench. The Colts starting right guard spot has simply been a weak link for their offensive line all season.

Nevertheless, with Fisher’s lack of current playing time, it’s hard to fairly evaluate just how good he is right now outside of the fact that he plays offensive line and the Colts could sorely use some help there.
