According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, there are 6 prospects declared eligible for this year’s NFL Supplemental Draft that the Indianapolis Colts could consider:

  • Eddie D’Antuono, LS Virginia Tech
  • Ra’Zahn Howard, DT Purdue
  • Jalen Overstreet, RB Sam Houston State
  • Tee Shepard, DB Mississippi
  • Rashaun Simonise, WR Calgary (Canada)
  • Cameron Walton, DE Concordia, Ala.

The NFL’s Supplemental Draft will occur on July 14th at 1 PM EST; however, there have only been two prospects chosen in the past 4 years.

Specifically, the then St. Louis Rams selected Clemson offensive lineman Isaiah Battle in the 5th round last year, while the Cleveland Browns selected wide receiver Josh Gordon years earlier in Round 2 of 2012.

Out of this year’s class, Ole Miss cornerback Tee Shepard headlines the group.

The 6’1″, 195 pound junior cornerback appeared in 2 games for the Rebels last season, recording 2 tackles and 1 pass defensed before he announced his departure from the team due to playing time concerns:

"“Shepard, who has a hearing impairment, left the Rebels in midseason last year and later alleged the Ole Miss coaching staff cut his playing time unfairly, using his impairment as the reason,” writes NFL.com’s Chase Goodbread."

However, he’s always been highly regarded for his talent as a cornerback prospect, having originally signed with Notre Dame out of high school:

"“Shepard displayed talent throughout his career, signing with Notre Dame out of Washington Union High (Fresno, California) as a four-star recruit and the No. 51 player nationally in the 2012 class, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rating,” writes The Clarion-Ledger’s Daniel Paulling. “He was also a four-star recruit and the No. 18 overall JUCO player when he signed with the Rebels in the 2014 class.”"

That being said, it’s a significant longshot that Shepard or any of the other 5 eligible prospects will be drafted by the Colts.

No one in this year’s class really jumps out on paper the way a Josh Gordon or even an Isaiah Battle did previously.  It’s possible that some of these prospects may be signed as free agents later on by the Colts after being undrafted however.
