According to audio captured by NFL Network, former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning‘s final career game very well could be Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers.

Following his Denver Broncos 20-18 victory against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, Manning embraced his longtime nemesis Bill Belichick indicating that this could be his “last rodeo”:

While another Super Bowl ring would put Manning right back in the discussion for the greatest quarterback of all-time along with Tom Brady and Joe Montana, the future Hall of Fame quarterback has little else to actually accomplish.

The former #1 overall pick of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts has already been one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL. Manning has starred in 14 seasons and 4 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos respectively.

He’s a Super Bowl XLI Champion, 5x Most Valuable Player, 14x Pro Bowler, 7x 1st-Team All-Pro, and 14x Pro Bowler.

Not only that, but Manning is also the NFL’s all-time passing touchdown leader (539), passing yards leader (71,940), and 2nd in passing completions (6,125).

Simply put, Manning is a throwback quarterback, the likes of which we will probably never see again. The 39 year old has become an iconic football player, nothing short of a superstar on the field, and has the type of engaging personality that simply transcends the sport.

If this is in fact, Manning’s “last hurrah”, I hope the old warhorse still has enough left in the tank for one last great game, so that he can be sent out for what he truly is: a champion.
