Colts formula to keep rolling

The Colts have found a formula to keep rolling lately. The Colts have faced a ton of adversity and keep finding themselves under new scrutiny.

The injuries seem to keep piling up on the Colts. They lost their leader Andrew Luck, and best offensive lineman Anthony Castanzo. The list goes on for Indianapolis. Yet even after changing offending coordinators during the season. The Colts have found a formula to keep rolling.

The Colts went through a rough patch dropping three straight. Lately they’ve found the formula to get the team rolling. They’ve pulled off the last three games against some really good teams. Two of the three games were won by the veteran backup quarterback Matthew Hasselbeck. I’m pretty convinced that Hasselbeck is the best backup quarterback in the league.

The Colts are very fortunate to have him. He’s the living definition of “next man up”. The Colts have pretty much been defined themselves as next man up. Yet even with the rash of injuries they’ve found a formula to keep rolling.

The next opponent will be a tough test as the Colts travel to Pittsburgh. The Steelers have a 6-5 record but it’s very clear that they’re better than their record. The Steelers have been hampered by injuries very similar to the Colts. Nonetheless the Colts will have to find the winning formula again.

The Colts last trip to Pittsburgh didn’t end to well but this is a completely different team from last season. The Steelers will get their starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back after passing the league’s concussion protocol. Last year star cornerback Vontae Davis went out the game early. I expect to Davis in a shadow roll with Steelers star wideout Antonio Brown.

The Colts will be underdogs this week but that’s been pretty common lately. Looking back on the season so far besides the Buffalo game the Colts have had an opportunity to win in every game. The Colts can’t hurt themselves with turnovers and penalties. I think this game will be a great measuring stick for the Colts. If they plan to make noise in the playoffs these are the types of games that lay ahead. On the road in January cold weather in a hostile environment.

The Colts know all to well about what Pittsburgh is capable of. They have to stay within themselves and continue to worry about themselves. They will have to find the formula to keep rolling.
