According to ProFootballTalk, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is expected to play tonight against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football:

It’s encouraging news for the Colts, as Hilton is officially listed as “questionable” with a knee injury and is widely expected to be a gametime decision ahead of tonight’s 8:30 PM EST scheduled kickoff.

However, the team figures to be in much better shape with Hilton in the fold, as they’re facing a talented Jets secondary that is led by shutdown cornerback Darrelle Revis.

With Hilton presumably playing, there’s another dynamic receiving option that the Jets defense will have to account for.

It’s worth noting that Hilton is coming off a 7 reception, 88 receiving yard game against the Buffalo Bills that was cut short after the former sustained a knee injury in the 3rd quarter of last week’s game and did not return.

Hilton did manage to practice on Saturday–albeit on a limited basis, and head coach Chuck Pagano has remained optimistic about his availability for the Jets.

Even if Hilton plays; however, it’s unclear whether he’ll actually be 100% or all that effective. This means other wide receivers such as Andre Johnson, Donte Moncrief, and Phillip Dorsett will be counted on to assume a greater portion of the offensive workload and to elevate their respective levels of play accordingly.

Nevertheless, this is positive news for the Colts, as Hilton is Luck’s go-to target. Even if he’s not 100%, he’s still a threat on the field, and the Jets will have to pay attention to him based on purely his name recognition alone.

Here’s hoping Hilton has a big day for the Colts tonight, and more importantly, the team gets their 1st win of the season!
