According to NFL Draft Diamonds, the Indianapolis Colts will workout Sacred Heart cornerback J.D. Roussel as part of a pre-draft visit:

The 5’11, 178 pound cornerback is coming off a 5 interception senior campaign for the Pioneers. He holds the all-time interception records at Sacred Heart University for most interceptions in a single game, season, and career with 17 career interceptions. He was also a key member of a defense that won back-to-back NEC Championships in 2013 and 2014 and was named to the AP All-American football team last season.

Still, coming from a small school that is Division I (FCS), Roussel understands that the odds are seemingly stacked against him according to an interview he conducted with Shaun DePasquale of Beyond Sports Network:

"“I feel that the odds are against me when being considered a pro prospect,” said Roussel. “I come from a small school in the FCS level, Sacred Heart University, and many feel that there is not a lot of talent here. Over the past two seasons myself as well as my team has changed the name of this school in the program for the future. Personal and team records have been broken in which we have and continue to prove people wrong.”“Personally, I could be overlooked because I am considered undersized,” Roussel added. “People don’t believe that I have the physical capability to play at this level, but again I plan to prove them wrong. I understand as well as embrace the underdog role proudly.”"

The Colts could certainly use some additional cornerback depth behind the trio of Vontae Davis, Greg Toler, and Darius Butler, especially with having let backup cornerback Josh Gordy leave to the New York Giants in free agency. The team’s 4th and 5th spot on the depth chart for cornerbacks is certainly up for grabs, and Roussel could be a potential late round target or priority free agent addition for the team.
