Colts Reportedly Now Have $37.8M in Cap Space

According to Spotrac.com, one of the premier salary cap resources on the web, the Indianapolis Colts now have reportedly $37.8M in cap space following the recent release of veteran pass rusher Shaun Phillips:

That number could still potentially increase, as the team has to be seriously considering the release of both one of our potential cap casualties in veteran offensive guard Donald Thomas ($3.75M cap hit) and disappointing young running back Trent Richardson ($3.18M cap hit).

It should be an interesting offseason for the Colts, as they could be big players in this year’s free agent market. The team has a number of holes to address too on both sides of the football. While the upcoming NFL Draft will no doubt help solve some of their deficiencies, the Colts could look to sign proven impact players through free agency, where there figures to be a good number available.
